Easter Party

This weekend we had an Easter Party over at my sister Julie's house. My mom and dad were in town, so we had Julie, Reyan, Hayden, Shawn, Ellie, Bonnie, Bill, Travis, and Me all there! It was quite a fun time. First we colored Easter Eggs; here is a photo of Ellie, my Mom, and Reyan getting ready to dye them.

And here's Hayden showing off his colorful creation.

After we dyed the eggs, we took them outside and did a couple of races with them. First we did a relay race where you have to balance the egg on a spoon and run the course without dropping the egg. (We let the little one's cheat and hold their egg to the spoon) Look at Reyan and Hayden booking around those obstacles! We also did a traditional egg roll race.

Here is Ellie doing it the "proper" way. She tore it up!!

After the relay races, we went inside and had some Easter cupcakes that I made and made a chick craft. We made chicks in eggs out of pom-pom balls and plastic eggs. It was really fun, and everyone got into making one. Here I am with my "princess" chick. She was all pink just like me!

Go Chiefs Go!

Shawn, Ellie, and I have season tickets to Spokane Chiefs Hockey. Last night was the last home game of the season. Luckily for us, the Chiefs made the playoffs, so hopefully there will be weeks of good hockey still to come! They won last night against Portland, and it was a pretty exciting game. Tonight they play their rivals, the Tri-City Americans in the Tri-Cities. The Chiefs and the Ams are both tied for first place, so whoever wins this one will be in the lead. Too bad it's an away game, because I bet it's a brutal one! Playoffs start next week, so it will be fun to see how far they get.

Here is a photo of Ellie and her best friend Caroline cheering the Chiefs on.

"Dude, what happened to your eye?!?"

So, apparently something bit me right on the eyelid. I woke up last Saturday morning with three small red bumps on my eyelid, but of course thought nothing much of it. As each day went by it got a little bit redder and a little bit more swollen. Thursday morning I woke up to find the lovely sight pictured above. My eye was almost swollen shut, so I finally caved in and went to the doctor. They said that it looked like a bug bite and gave me some super antibiotics. They also mentioned that I couldn't wear my contacts for at least two days. (I kept prying my eye open each day to get that darn contact in!) Well, that was a bit of a dilemma because I haven't gotten new glasses in like 5 years, so the ones I had were basically worthless. And, no glasses or contacts for Carmen is not a good thing. I spent the day spending an arm and a leg to get some glasses made so that I could go to work the next day. The antibiotics seem to be working well though because there is no more swelling today!! I don't even want to think about what was crawling on my poor innocent porcelain eyelid...
